Volunteer Spokesperson

Women’s Advocates needs the help of a volunteer spokesperson to accompany our staff at corporate, university, and community information fairs. A volunteer spokesperson would attend these information fairs solo or with a Women’s Advocates staff member, provide helpful marketing materials to passers-by, and share basic information about our program to inquirers.

Requirements: Be a quick learner, have excellent communication skills, able to stand for 1-2 hours

Schedule: Varies, as scheduled, inquire for current needs

Childcare

Part of the programming offered by Women’s Advocates is child care while mothers are busy working towards their goals and attending support groups. We seek volunteers to assist our staff during the busiest Children’s Program hour.

Requirements: Good with children, flexible & positive attitude

Schedule: M-F mornings from 8:45-10:15, inquire for current needs

Clothing Closet

On a regular basis, we receive donations of new clothing to provide to residents of Women’s Advocates, but we have a limitation on space and staff time to wash and sort these donations. If you are looking for a quiet, task oriented, and organizational volunteer position, this one is right for you!

Requirements: Works independently, enjoys washing and sorting clothing

Schedule: Preferred weekly; approx. 4 hours – day time

Career Show-and-Tell

Our Children’s Program holds group activities for all ages of children staying at our shelter, including educational and experiential activities. We seek volunteers who work in varied industries to show our kids different career paths. You can bring your colleagues, props, and even information to leave behind about how to prepare for your career.

Commitment: A one-time 30-minute presentation
