Volunteer Spokesperson

Women’s Advocates needs the help of a volunteer spokesperson to accompany our staff at corporate, university, and community information fairs. A volunteer spokesperson would attend these information fairs with a Women’s Advocates staff member, provide helpful marketing materials to passers-by, and share basic information about our program to inquirers.

Requirements: Be a quick learner, have excellent communication skills, able to stand for 1-2 hours

Schedule: Varies, as scheduled, inquire for current needs

Childcare

Part of the programming offered by Women’s Advocates is child care while mothers are busy working towards their goals and attending support groups. We seek volunteers to assist our staff during the busiest Children’s Program hour.

Requirements: Good with children, flexible & positive attitude

Schedule: M-F mornings from 8:45-10:15, inquire for current needs

Wellness Instructor

We love to provide fitness activity opportunities to the residents of Women’s Advocates, but we have a limitation on space. If there is a group wellness activity that you could lead in a small conference room, or if there is a space in Saint Paul you have access too, this would be a tremendous and rewarding volunteer opportunity for you AND for the women at our shelter.

Requirements: Works well with others, knowledge of fitness and wellness activities, access to space or works well in small space

Schedule: Varied, weekdays day time

Items required: Any required fitness materials for the group

Career Show-and-Tell

Our Children’s Program holds group activities for all ages of children staying at our shelter, including educational and experiential activities. We seek volunteers who work in varied industries to show our kids different career paths. You can bring your colleagues, props, and even information to leave behind about how to prepare for your career.

Requirements: Works well with children, comfortable in an informal presenting environment

Commitment: A one-time 30-minute presentation

Deep Cleaning Project Volunteer

We pride ourselves on being a clean and welcoming place for women and their children. Our facilities team keeps our facility in top shape, however special, specific cleaning needs arise – this is where the helping hands of the community are needed.

Requirements: A good eye for cleanliness, ability to bend, reach high, and kneel, and comfortable with cleaning products

Schedule:

  • For general housekeeping – M-F, 9am-3pm
  • For Children’s Program Area: M-F, after 3pm
