Survivor Stories

“Violence not only causes physical injury, it also undermines the social, economic, psychological, spiritual and emotional well-being of the victim.” Susmitha B, “Domestic Violence: Causes, Impact, and Remedial Measures.”

You deserve kindness! If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse and needs help, please contact Women’s Advocates’ crisis line at at 651-227-8284 or resources@wadvocates.org. To those in abusive relationships, we support you, we believe you.

In a survey of women who stayed at Women’s Advocates, ten out of ten reported gaining new knowledge of Domestic Violence during their stay. We also provide educational presentations throughout the community. Want to find out more? Schedule us for an educational presentation! www.wadvocates.org/outreach-education/.

The National Organization for Women (NOW) in New York City has launched the #HealMeToo campaign to raise awareness that women who are raped or sexually assaulted have an extremely high chance of developing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms in the weeks following the assault. Because of this, NOW is highlighting the resources available to help anyone who might need it in the aftermath of sexual assault. More here.
