Part of the programming offered by Women’s Advocates is child care while mothers are busy working towards their goals and attending support groups. We seek volunteers to assist our staff during the busiest Children’s Program hour.

Social Media Volunteer

Women’s Advocates needs the help of a volunteer to generate educational information to share on our various social media platforms: Instagram (@womensadvocates), Facebook (@wadvocates), Twitter (@womensadvocates), and our website. This volunteer would research important topics related to domestic violence and generate post ideas to send to the Education and Outreach Coordinator, who will then review and publish the content onto the appropriate site.

Posts include photos, graphics, news articles, resources, statistics and more that involve self-advocacy, dismantling myths about DV, sharing stories of survivors, sharing the work individuals are doing to uplift other women, historical information about Women’s Advocates and the movement against gender based/intimate partner violence, and raising awareness about various DV topics. We are also specifically seeking volunteers that would represent a voice that would otherwise be marginalized, silenced by mainstream sources, or pushed aside by the current dominant voices in this field.

*For those with advanced knowledge on DV, opportunities for guest blog posts and supplemental educational materials for schools, businesses, and community organizations are available upon inquiry.

You can bring your colleagues, props, and even information to leave behind about how to prepare for your career.

Volunteer Spokesperson

Women’s Advocates needs the help of a volunteer spokesperson to accompany our staff at corporate, university, and community information fairs. A volunteer spokesperson would attend these information fairs solo or with a Women’s Advocates staff member, provide helpful marketing materials to passers-by, and share basic information about our program to inquirers.
