In this 90-minute webinar, we will be expanding upon the objectives from Part 1:
- Develop an understanding of attachment theory, its origins, and modern applications.
- Learn how infants and children develop attachment styles and how their patterns of attachment influence how they navigate the world.
- Develop awareness of how domestic violence impacts development and attachment styles.
About the Speakers
Mary Willis, MA, LPCC, is the Early Childhood Therapist at Domestic Abuse Project. The majority of her work is with young children and parents, but she also works with older children and co-facilitates a group for parents. In her clinical practice, she believes strongly in radical, client-centered therapy which centers self-determination and open discussion of power imbalances.
Vanessa Shuck is a clinical youth intern at Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) working specifically with children and survivors of domestic violence. They currently attend St. Catherine University, where they are pursuing their graduate degree in Social Work and Holistic Health Studies. Vanessa’s primary focus is supporting children and families toward healing through strengths-oriented, anti-oppressive, reparative clinical practice. At DAP, they work individually with children and caregivers to support healing from trauma, using models of relational therapy and child-centered play therapy. They previously interned at Washburn Center for Children, where they engaged in clinical group work with five and six-year-olds who had experienced attachment disruptions and trauma. Their previous experience also includes professional caregiving work with a variety of families.
