Women’s Advocates is proud to introduce Holly Henning as our new Executive Director

Women’s Advocates is proud to announce that Holly Henning will be joining the team as our new Executive Director on February 21.
 
Also known by her nêhiyawak (Cree) name Miskitoos, or Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) name Gimiwnaaabo-Ikwe, Holly is an enrolled member of Marten Falls Anishinaabe First Nation and has paternal connection to Constance Lake Oji-Cree First Nation in Northern Ontario. She is Bear Clan, responsible for medicine, healing, and protection in her community. For the last 15 years, she has worked in youth homelessness for the Ain Dah Yung Center in many capacities, most recently as Associate Director. In her work, Holly has experience in direct service, street outreach, grant writing, and program development. She was instrumental in launching ADYC’s Zhawenimaa (“They Are Loved Unconditionally” in Anishinaabemowin) program, which provides culturally specific safe harbor services to Indigenous victim-survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Holly is also an artist and jingledress dancer and uses art and dance to elevate community voice and advance change. Holly is a survivor and a mother of an amazing six-year-old son. We are honored to welcome her onboard as our new Executive Director!
